Mike Young reports that construction has finally begun on his 18-hole track at the Montecristo Beach resort community in Nicaragua.
The Athens, Georgia-based architect has designed a 7,060-yard “core” track for Montecristo Beach, which is taking shape on more than 1,000 acres along the nation’s Pacific coast, the Costa Azul, about 40 miles west of Managua. The community’s developers, Lori and Jorge Estrada, plan to fill out their property with houses, a beach club, an equestrian center, a spa, and other attractions.
Young has designed two well-regarded courses in Costa Rica, but the course at Montecristo Beach is his first in Nicaragua. He once called the site “one of the best I've ever had to work with” and promised that it would “set a pretty high standard for future golf development in the country.”
Of course, Young made those comments years ago, when he got the design commission. The course was originally supposed to open in 2008.

this is a joke that will never happen
ReplyDeleteYes the development is nice but Lori and Jorge is scams never buy in here talk with the people that lives in there full time. I know most of them has put there homes up for sell!!! The people just living in there part time has no clue!
ReplyDeleteI swear this word scam is thrown out way to liberally and in this case it's a load of crock. The golf course at Monecristo is coming along nicely and the resort is beautiful. The guy with sour grapes probably wanted to make a quick buck on his lot purchase at Montecristo and couldn't make it happen so he's pissed off...get real!

ReplyDeleteBe warned: You will want to check into what is happening in Montecristo BEFORE you buy! The buyers have paid for their homes in full; but many of the buyers' homes are still unfinished after years and years. Check into the developers. Everything is not as it seems.
ReplyDeletethe golf course has not been worked on in over a year it is a real mess. Many buyers have paid in full for their houses to be built and are still unfinished after years of waiting and many people do not have legally registered deeds to their houses. Before investing in Montecristo find out you can about this place, the good, the bad and the very ugly. Be very careful
ReplyDeleteIt is funny that these comments are.posted anonymously. Montecristo is a beautiful development. We are thrilled about our purchase. And we are owners. Kelly Stiles
ReplyDeleteJust as FYI...we have not worked on the golf course in over 18 months and we have seen no progress in the other areas of the resort. At this time the potential is there but I think more funding will be needed. I wish I could comment more. I just wanted to make sure no one felt we were part of any "scam".
